It’s safe to say that Rockstar Games has been planning for a long time how it will monetize GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI) in the long term, especially with the arrival of the new online mode. But will the game feature in-game ads?

In this scenario, many players have begun to speculate whether the company would use Leonida’s world to profit from real-world advertising within the game, forming “product placement” partnerships, such as billboards for famous brands of soda, clothing, or cars. The answer to that? Probably not.

During the "iicon" conference, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick commented on the company’s vision regarding advertising in the franchise. According to Zelnick, the tradition of using fictional brands that parody real companies (such as Sprunk, Pißwasser, and eCola) will remain a pillar for maintaining the game’s essence.

"So, in the case of GTA as intellectual property, as you know, it’s a fictional world and everything in it is fictional," explained Zelnick. "As a result, we don’t run the risk of, for example, partnering with brands, because all the brands are fictional. I think that keeps us pure."

To reassure fans who feared the game would be turned into a giant billboard for real-world ads, Zelnick was very direct when discussing the risks of forcing this type of commercial partnership into a video game.

He emphasized that player immersion must always come first and that turning the map into an advertising space can backfire and tarnish the experience. "Everyone knows that if you overdo the partnerships, it’s a disaster."

In other words, fans can breathe a sigh of relief: the streets of Leonida will continue to be dominated by Rockstar’s unmistakable, biting humor, without real-world brands breaking the magic of our beloved virtual criminal underworld!
