Anyone who lived through the PlayStation 2 era remembers the uproar caused by the "Hot Coffee" mod in GTA San Andreas. For those who don't know, this was a mod that unlocked an adult-themed minigame that Rockstar had hidden in the GTA San Andreas files. The whole thing got so serious that it even made it to the U.S. Senate!

I asked Young Maylay what he thought of all this commotion, and, of course, he made light of the situation.
Qual o seu protagonista favorito do GTA 6?
Hillary Clinton and the free marketing for GTA San Andreas

At the time, then-Senator Hillary Clinton led a crusade to ban the game from stores. But, according to Maylay, it backfired. He told me, laughing: "She banned the game, right? Okay, but that did nothing but make it more popular."
He even speculated on how the senator discovered the mod: “She probably saw her grandchildren playing that shit or somehow it ended up on her desk.” In the end, the censorship attempt only served to make everyone want to play it even more.
Did Young Maylay record the “spicy” lines?

One question I’ve always had was whether he actually recorded the audio for those hidden scenes. Maylay was honest and said he doesn’t remember making any specific sounds or lines for the minigame: “I don’t remember doing that. I think it’s pretty much just the graphics they put in there.”
Apparently, Rockstar used animations that were already in the code, without requiring new voice recordings from our eternal CJ.
Young Maylay comments on the rarity of the black cover for GTA San Andreas

A golden tip he gave to collectors was about the difference between the physical versions of the game. Because of the controversy, Rockstar had to re-release the "clean" version of the game.
Maylay explained how to identify the original (and rare) version that still has the mod code: "If you have the original copy, the entire CD, the game cover is black. Now the others… are red, or a different color because that’s when they removed Hot Coffee from it." If you have the one with the black cover, treasure it!

Maylay emphasized that accessing Hot Coffee wasn’t for just anyone; it required codes and effort: “You have to really want to do it.”
And when I told him that we here in Brazil have always been masters at modding the game and creating our own versions, he was full of praise: “For you guys to be out there pirating games, you’ve got some really smart people out there, man!”
