Thanks to a tip from our reader Thiago Maycon on the Portal Viciados WhatsApp group, we discovered a new job opening, which, combined with the studio’s recent moves, suggests that the global marketing machine is about to be turned on.

The new job opening for GTA 6: Senior Video and Trailer Composer

The position in question is seeking a "Senior Nuke Compositor (Temporary)" to work at Rockstar’s new studio in Carlsbad, California.

What really catches the eye are the contract details and the job responsibilities:

  • Short-term contract: This is a temporary position lasting just 3 months (with the possibility of extension). This means Rockstar needs immediate "manpower" for a project that is already in the final stages of visual polishing.
  • Focus on high-level video: The professional will join the Video Production Department, which is responsible for creating absolutely all trailers and video assets released online, on social media, on television (Broadcast TV), and even in movie theaters.
  • Heavy effects work: The position requires experience in film and TV to perform 2D/3D tracking, camera tracking, compositing, and rotoscoping under tight deadlines.

To understand the significance of this discovery, we need to look at the full picture. As we recently reported here on Portal Viciados, Rockstar posted another temporary job opening (for New York) a few days ago, seeking artists to create billboards, posters, and physical game boxes.

When we put the pieces together, the picture becomes clear:

  1. New York Team: Preparing the print materials, the boxes that will go to stores, and the billboards for GTA 6.
  2. California Team: Bolstering the video team for 3 months to finalize and polish TV commercials, new online trailers, and in-theater ads.

In short, short-term, highly specialized contracts like these, focused on high-quality physical and video promotional material, aren’t being posted if GTA 6 is about to face a major delay.
