Pearl Abyss continues to demonstrate a serious commitment to polishing Crimson Desert.
In the latest update (version 1.02.00), the Crimson Desert studio implemented dozens of "quality-of-life" improvements that directly address the main criticisms raised since the game’s March 19 launch.
The focus this time was on hero customization, resource management, and the much-discussed gameplay.

Massive inventory and the end of the "mandatory helmet"

The two biggest changes aim to improve player comfort while exploring the vast open world:
- Plenty of space: Camp storage has jumped from 240 to an impressive 1,000 slots. This expansion occurs gradually across 5 level upgrades, ensuring you no longer have to discard valuable items due to lack of space.
- Helmet Visibility: In response to requests, you can now hide the protagonist’s helmet. You can choose whether it appears all the time, only during combat, or remains invisible during cutscenes so as not to disrupt immersion in the story.
Crimson Desert gets refined controls and mechanics

Pearl Abyss has also tweaked Crimson Desert’s running mechanics, one of the most criticized aspects at launch.
Now, there is a control selector for sprinting: players can choose between holding the button to run or sticking with the original system of repeated clicks.
On the technical side, the patch brings performance optimizations for all platforms, with significant improvements in support for DLSS, FSR, and PSSR (on PS5 Pro), ensuring greater stability in dense areas. Additionally, the visibility of explosive barrels has been increased, a tweak to prevent accidental deaths that became a meme in the community.
