In a statement to investors and fans, Pearl Abyss explained that the silence surrounding DokeV was a strategic decision.

The studio’s entire focus and marketing resources were directed toward ensuring that Crimson Desert had a flawless global launch. According to the company, the complexity of finalizing a game and preparing its campaign requires about a year of intensive work even after technical development is complete.

Since the studio’s human and technological resources were reallocated to Crimson Desert, development on DokeV proceeded at a more measured pace.
The company stated that, following the release of Crimson Desert, the team will need at least two more years of preparation and polishing for the next major title. In practice, this puts DokeV’s release window as early as 2028.
The next step for the "kids' GTA"
Despite the long wait, Pearl Abyss has assured fans that the project remains active and is utilizing the power of its BlackSpace Engine, the same engine that impressed critics in technical reviews of Crimson Desert.
The promise is that new information and gameplay videos will be released by the end of 2026, once the dust settles from the current launch.
DokeV has garnered global attention for blending elements of urban exploration, action combat, and the collection of spiritual creatures (Dokebis).
In short, the game promises unprecedented freedom of movement, with the use of roller skates, skateboards, bicycles, and magical abilities in a setting reminiscent of South Korea’s major metropolises.
