After acquiring the team behind FiveM and RedM in 2022, Rockstar Games—the developer of GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI)—has posted new job openings that suggest a revolution is on the way: advanced mod creation tools are coming to consoles.

The team responsible for these innovations, called the Creator Platform, recently published a list of job openings, showing that the focus will no longer be limited to PC players.

The focus on PlayStation and Xbox for GTA 6

Rockstar Games is looking for a Lead Programmer to join the Creator Platform team. The job description clearly states that the candidate will work on "Rockstar’s creator platforms, including FiveM and RedM."

However, the key detail that caught our attention is in the requirements. For the first time on the creator team, Rockstar requires that the candidate have at least one released console or PC title on their resume; preferably on Xbox and/or PlayStation consoles.

FiveM and RedM were PC-exclusive. Seeking a leader with experience in console game launches (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S) suggests that GTA 6’s User-Generated Content (UGC) tools will be natively integrated into Xbox and PS5.
The position is for Rockstar North, the main studio behind GTA 6!

Another detail is the work location. While previous openings in the creative platforms department were focused on London and New York, this new leadership position is for the Rockstar North office in Edinburgh, Scotland—the main studio leading the development of GTA 6.
