Following rumors spread by insider Jeff Grubb that Microsoft was internally delaying *Fable* to avoid a direct clash with *GTA 6* (*Grand Theft Auto VI*), Playground Games decided to break its silence.
When asked by a follower on X (formerly Twitter) about possible fears of competition, the game’s official account was direct: “We’re excited to welcome you to Albion in the fall of 2026.”
- Confidence: The statement not only rules out a delay to 2027 but also reinforces the fall release window (between September and December). This indicates that the studio believes Fable has enough staying power to coexist in the market, even with Rockstar’s November release.
- Confirmed Platforms: It’s worth noting that the title is scheduled to arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and, as previously announced, will also have a PlayStation 5 version.
What to Expect from the Reboot?

The game promises to be a triumphant return to the franchise’s roots, combining its signature dark humor with next-gen visuals.
Qual o seu protagonista favorito do GTA 6?
Classic features such as the property system, weddings, bizarre interactions with NPCs, and exploration of the iconic city of Bowerstone have already been confirmed in gameplay demos earlier this year.

While the fear of GTA 6 is real, the 2026 release window offers a valuable opening for those who know how to position themselves.
With Rockstar’s game not arriving until the second half of November, a September release for Fable would give Microsoft’s RPG about eight to ten weeks of exclusivity in the public eye.
If they’ve stuck to the date, it’s because the game is in an advanced polishing stage and Microsoft is confident in Fable’s potential as one of the big names of 2026.
