After Rockstar Games, the developer of GTA 6 (Grand Theft Auto VI), confirmed the breach but downplayed its impact by describing the data as "non-material," the criminals went public via the BBC to confirm that they will release the stolen data online.
You can check out more details about this hacker attack in the video from our partner SanInPlay:
The group had set April 14 (tomorrow) as the deadline for paying a ransom.

Since Rockstar Games has indicated it will not give in to extortion, following law enforcement guidelines not to fund cybercrime, the hackers now claim the leak is inevitable.
Is GTA 6 at risk of being leaked?

Unlike the 2022 hack, which exposed the game itself, this attack appears to be focused on the company’s corporate “inner workings”:
- Financial focus: Due to the method of access (via a cloud-based cost monitoring tool), the leak is expected to expose financial records, marketing plans, player spending, and contracts.
- Impact on GTA 6: Although Rockstar assures that the incident does not affect the organization or players, the leak of marketing plans and contracts could reveal partnerships and strategies the company intended to keep secret.
This new incident comes as the community still recalls the case of Arion Kurtaj, the 18-year-old convicted of leaking the first images of GTA 6 in 2022.

Rockstar appears to be taking the same resilient stance as before, but the ShinyHunters’ determination to proceed with the leak puts Take-Two under immense pressure over the next 24 hours.
Speaking to the BBC, the ShinyHunters are seeking to legitimize their threat and stoke panic. If Rockstar is right and the data is truly “irrelevant,” tomorrow’s leak could be a “blowout.”

However, if licensing contracts and detailed plans for GTA 6 end up online, the damage to the marketing strategy will be massive. We’re on standby to cover any developments as this deadline approaches.
