Despite the resounding success of Crimson Desert, which surpassed 3 million copies sold in record time, Pearl Abyss has shared news that will require patience from fans.

During its latest investor meeting on March 27, 2026, the South Korean studio made it clear that, although a sequel makes perfect commercial sense, the company’s focus has officially shifted to other horizons.

Crimson Desert 2 will take a while!

Pearl Abyss’s decision is strategic: the core team that brought the world of Pywel to life has already been almost entirely reassigned.

The studio chose not to follow the common path of immediately starting production on Crimson Desert 2. Instead, the top priority now is to finish projects that were “in the pipeline,” such as DokeV.

This shift means that any plans for a direct sequel to Crimson Desert have been put on the back burner. Given the company’s current schedule, analysts estimate that, if a sequel is produced, it is unlikely to see the light of day this decade, possibly pushing it into the 2030s.

Ongoing Support vs. Crimson Desert 2

Pearl Abyss has emphasized that the focus on Crimson Desert will now be maintained through updates, polishing, and the possible release of additional content (DLCs), as long as sales continue to perform well.

The idea is to extract the maximum potential from the first game and its proprietary technology before even considering investing hundreds of millions of dollars in a production from scratch for chapter two.
