Pearl Abyss used its shareholders' meeting this Friday to reassure investors and fans about the status of DokeV, the famous "K-Pop GTA."
The highly anticipated open-world adventure game featuring creature collection, which had been in complete silence while the studio prioritized the launch of Crimson Desert, is now the South Korean developer’s main focus.

According to the statement, development of DokeV has progressed slowly in recent years because Pearl Abyss decided to concentrate nearly all of its human and technological resources on Crimson Desert.

With the latter now on the market and posting solid sales figures, the core team is being officially transferred to accelerate the production of DokeV.
The game uses the same state-of-the-art proprietary graphics engine that brought the realistic landscapes of Pywel to life, promising a vibrant and technically advanced visual experience for the Korean-style city where the adventure takes place.
Pearl Abyss estimates that it will take another two to three years to complete and polish the game, placing the release window between late 2028 and early 2029. However, the studio has promised to share more concrete updates and new trailers later in 2026.
It’s worth noting that the nature of DokeV has evolved since its original announcement: what was once an MMO is now defined as an open-world action adventure. The focus remains on interacting with the Dokebi, mystical creatures that draw power from people’s dreams and will serve as the player’s central companions.
