Resident Evil Requiem was officially announced during the Summer Game Fest 2025and fans of the franchise are speculating about a possible unexpected inspiration for the ninth chapter of the saga, in Fallout.
Resident Evil Requiem could be inspired by Fallout
The trailer for Summer Game Fest reveals an aerial view of a Raccoon City devastated, with a huge crater, a direct trace of the bomb attack that took place at the end of Resident Evil 3.
Fallout, from Bethesdais known for setting its games in a world destroyed by nuclear bombs, full of mutations, radiation and extreme dangers. Case Resident Evil Requiem adopt this type of scenario, we will see a Raccoon City transformed by decades of abandonment, radiation and viral remnants.
This context makes room for the introduction of new, more aggressive and unpredictable mutant enemies, as well as the possibility of radiation mechanics directly impacting exploration and survival, as in Fallout.

Even if Capcom choose to maintain the traditional linear horror structure of their previous games in the franchise, the setting can bring something new with a dark and daring tone to the game.
What's more, Resident Evil Requiem connects directly with classic titles such as RE Outbreakby presenting Grace Ashcroft, daughter of journalist Alyssa Ashcroft, a playable character in the multiplayer spin-off.
This indicates that the game could return to the franchise's roots, combining the classic style with modern elements.

If the radiation interacts with the G-virusThe mutations could reach new levels, with enemies regenerating, evolving and reacting to the radioactive environment. Scheduled for release in February 27th, 2026, Resident Evil Requiem promises a major evolution for the franchise.
