Couple of Cuckoos season 2 gets release date and new trailer

Fans of romantic anime can celebrate! A Kadokawa has finally revealed the official premiere date for the long-awaited second season of A Couple of Cuckoos (Kakkou no Iinazuke), and no wonder - the new season arrives on July 8, 2025.

The announcement was accompanied by a trailer that is already making otaku hearts beat faster. After all, after almost three years since the first season, which premiered in April 2022, the sequel to the romantic comedy based on the manga from Miki Yoshikawa promises to heat up the plot even more.

What to expect from the second season

In the new trailer, fans can get a taste of the opening theme "Kimi ga Kureta mono" (What You Gave), which promises to rock the romantic adventures of the protagonists Nagi Umino and Erika Amano.

The story, which began with a very peculiar premise - two babies swapped in hospital who end up engaged when they grow up - continues to explore the complexities of this arranged relationship that neither of them wanted at the beginning.

One of the most exciting new features is the addition of Hina Yomiya (known for her work on My Dress-up Darling) as the new character Ai Mochizuki. This new addition to the cast is sure to mess with the already complicated dynamic of the love triangle.

One day, while on his way to a dinner party to meet his biological parents, he accidentally meets the bold and very honest Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend, as she wishes she would never get married. But when he arrives at the restaurant and meets his parents, Nagi discovers that they want him to marry the daughter they swapped at the hospital and raised in Nagi's place... who happens to be Erika herself!
